Q: Bottoming Out After Breast Augmentation

Submitted by Q-A from clee on Fri, 05/13/2011 - 13:14

Three Weeks Post-op BA and BL, Bottoming out in Right Breast? I had 300 cc silicone moderate profile smooth round implants. I was 32A and wanted to achieve 32B, a natural look. I am starting to worry that my nipples might be too high and the right breast is starting to bottom out?

A: Appear to have had vertical mastopexy

Based on your photos it appears that you had a vertical mastopexy with implants. Such mastopexies often appear long in the vertical inferior pole. That should not be confused with implant descent and bottoming out. Give it time to settle. When the scars are soft a minor revision of the inferior pole of the vertical scar might be warranted.

Q: What Does Going Your Max Mean?

Submitted by Q-A from clee on Fri, 05/13/2011 - 12:47

I already had my breast augmentation and have slightly bottomed out. I went with my max, which was 390cc's (5'2,98lbs,34Acup). What does going with your max mean? Is it the max size the surgeon can fit or the max size without risking size related complications....both? I just wonder what my max should have been now that I've bottomed out.

A: Max has different meaning to different surgeons

In general, every surgeon has a limitation where the risks of placing a larger implant does not justify the risks of complications and poor aesthetic outcome. Form many surgeons including myself, the base width of your breast is the maximum footprint to any implant to be implanted. With regard to bottoming out, it is difficult to evaluate with a single photo with arms raised.

Q: Muscle Detached from Sternum From Breast Augmentation - Will It Get Worse over Time?

Submitted by Q-A from clee on Fri, 05/13/2011 - 12:26

Muscle detached from sternum (right side) from ba -Implant slightly bottomed out medially & inferiorly -I have saline (325 filled to 390) - Starting to notice rippling in my right cleavage where my muscle got separated.

I'm thin and worried that the 'exposed' implant in my right cleavage is going to show more rippling with time. Should I wait & see how bad it gets or should I get a revision now? Is it harder to fix if it gets worse? Results are fantastic but worried.

A: Enjoy your results

Your results are good. At present, it is not really a good idea to address relatively minor concerns.

Q: 500CC, Under Muscle, Saline Implants: Is my Right Breast Bottoming Out?

Submitted by Q-A from clee on Fri, 05/13/2011 - 11:15

I had my BA surgery done on 3/16/2011. I have saline and placed behind the muscle. Rt 500 cc Lt 475 cc, Right after the surgery I experienced a lot of pain in my abdominal area. After one month of the surgery, I have still disconfort on my right breast (bottom part).

I would like to know if my breasts are bottoming out? and also if they look too low.. I can feel the bottom of the implants in both side.

A: Not bottoming out on photos

There is no evidence of bottoming out on your photos. It is normal for the lower edge of the implant to be more palpable as the thinner breast tissue provide less coverage over the implant.
