Abdominoplasty Before After #04

Before & After Abdominoplasty

PATIENT DETAILS

This 39-year-old woman developed a prominent abdomen following the birth of twins. She has also had multiple laparoscopic procedures through her umbilicus. On examination, her umbilicus was found to be scarred and associated with an underlying hernia. There also was a wide separation of her rectus abdominis muscles with a modest excess quantity of skin. An abdominoplasty was proposed to repair her umbilical hernia, diastasis recti and to remove the excess skin. Abdominoplasty was performed with the following notables:

  • outpatient surgery
  • general anesthesia
  • repair of a small umbilical hernia
  • repair of a wide abdominal rectus diastasis
  • excision of 907g of excess tissue
  • drains were used
  • abdominal binder was worn for 6 weeks following surgery

The photographic follow-up was obtained before and 7 months after surgery.
